Specificity.
That is a trait that few out there seem to recognize as an imperative when asking for help. This is a fact you learn very quickly when you are engaged in “IT Call Center work and/or customer support.”

So Ki_Ki_Kero, you say that you need a Laptop. That seems strait forward enough. More information however, would be helpful. What exactly is going to be your primary use of this Laptop? That would give us some idea as to what the minimum requirements of the Laptop you need might be. For instance, if you only need to do some simple word processing and occasionally get online to access your email, you do not require all that much for the power of the CPU or amount of RAM. :)

The phrase, “I can’t afford a new one” is open to a great deal of interpretation. I have seen new laptops sell for as little a $450. Are you saying that you cannot swing that much for a Laptop? Or have you simply been unable to find one in your price range, what ever that may be, in your particular area? :)

The phrase, “I don’t want anything too old,” is such a relative term as to be meaningless. What is too old? One year or 6 years? :)

Anyway, I do have a recommendation for you. Check out the used Laptops provided at http://www.bobjohnson.com, which come with a decent guarantee. Be advised however the only the Laptop will carry a guarantee, not the battery. So you will likely have to order a new battery if you want reliable portability.
The prices you will find there for used equipment are rather difficult to beat.

Good Luck with your search,
