Hello,

I have an interesting question regarding an old CC debt totalling 3k. It has been nearly 5 years since I closed an old account at Providian. Now, it seems that the creditors have forwarded my account to a law firm in Utah. Since I no longer live at the address on file, and since the number has changed years ago, this law firm on behalf of the collectors decided to find the nearest matching address, find the telephone number to this address, and ended up calling the house across the street from my parents asking questions about me. The neighbor took down all the information, regarding the law firm, and the case number and decided to forward my parents this information.

I was infuriated to say the least that this law firm would use a neighbor as some sort of humiliation device. Has this law firm violated my civil rights to privacy by contacting a neighbor, and having him forward such personal information to my parents?
