every time I come home, my dog jumps and bites. He has already torn my leather jacket. What can I do to stop him from doing this?

Sounds like he needs some dog obedience training. He's so happy to see you. He doesn't know he's doing something wrong, but they can train him not to bite when he's excited by using positive reinforcement techniques. Yup, you're gonna have to shell out some money on your dog. Get used to it.

my dog used to do the saaame exact thing. And shes a medium sized dog, so it wasnt cute or pleasant. how old is your dog? what commands does she know? answer these questions and i might be able to help.

my dog knew "no" and "stay" so before i walked into the door (before she saw me) i firmly said "no and stay", and when she did jump i made a sad look on my face. It sounds funny but trust me they know. after a few weeks she stopped. i know its a FEW WEEKS but its better than paying for someone to train her.

my dog is nine and a half months old. he is also a pitbull but very friendly. so hes a pretty big dog. he knows sit, stay, lay down, gentle when handing him a treat and off. I was going to try and keep a toy near the door so instead of jumping and biting, he chases the toy instead.

Keeping a toy near the door will make him think that when you come home it is play time.

I would suggest raising your knee whenever he jumps on you. The aim is to put a barrier between yourself and him when he is jumping. If you just hold your knee up it will hit him in the chest lightly.

After a while he will associated that with jumping and stop.

Exercise exercise exercise...A tired dog is a good dog.
as soon as I get home I stright away get my dogs ( 5 month old boxer and 3 yr old working GSD) out for a 15 minuet play session then I come in and get my stuff done. You will be suprised how quickly they get into that routine.

I would also sugguest finding a training class (with a qualified proffesional dog trainer) this is great fun for you as well as the dog. teaching group classes are my fav! I love to see the results from my students at the end of the 6 to 8 weeks( plus a requirment for my class to graduate is you must teach your dog a trick)

My dog use to it but after afew times of ignoreing her she stopped. Give the dog no attention. no eye contact and no words. Just ignore the dog until it is calm. The more attention you give it the more you incourage the bad habit.

Yes that is true also, keep commings and goings as low key as you can.

I totally Ignore my dogs when I first enter the house while I put what ever I am carrying into the house down. Then once they are outside(with a toy) I give them a few games of retrieve to get those bursts of energy released.
