Just wanted to get some opinions on a very trivial subject as the hurricane is depressing!

In MLB you can spend as much as you want, no salary cap, yadda yadda yadda. Obviusly the Yankees can spend through the roof, but for a mid market team, like my Astros, (Only 12.5 games behind the Cardinals) would you want the owner and/or general manager to sacrifice the next 3 or 4 seasons in order to get (and pay) the players that could give you the chance to win it all now?

The Marlins suceeded several years back, but immediatly afterwards they sold their players to try to recoup their financial losses. If the Marlins had failed they still would have had to sell their players anyway and have a crappy couple years to look forward to. They don't have the financial resources of the Yankees and Red Sox.

Personally, I'd rather watch the team compete every year. I just think it's more fun to win when you're the underdog. Otherwise, It's almost like you bought the championship. (not that I wouldn't enjoy that too!)

Don't take offense Yankee fan - Joe Torre is a freaking joke. I won't hold you accountable for his incompetence.
