My new dog like to drag his tummy across the floor, with his feet dragging behind him. I am wondering if this is a sign of parasites or something, kind of like scooting...you know where the dog drags its butt along the floor (can be a sign of worms). My dog is male, he is a chi/terrier mix. I have never seen this behavior before...I owned only females before. Otherwise he seems very happy and content...he does seem to like dragging his tummy....wagging his tail the whole time. He will even crawl towards me....it seems like cute behavior but it might not be? Any suggestions?
Thank you

If your pup is not showing signs of itching it might just be a behavior on his part. Many times this is a sign of him telling you that he understands you are the alpha. If you are worried check with your vet and let him take a look at his belly to see any signs of irritation. Also scooting may be sign of worms, that is true, but dont forget that it is also signs that the anal glands are full and they are trying to express them theirselves. If you have any other questions let me know, Im a vet tech and I might be able to help.
Good luck!

i have had MANY dogs do this, and when i took the first one to the vet over it, i was told not to worry at all because that is just another way that dogs stretch their muscles. for some reason, it's comfortable for them. my dogs always put their heads up high in the air with their eyes closed while they do it. you'd think they were masturbating from the look of complete pleasure on their faces ROFLLLLLLL
