Please help. The dog is at last chance saloon.

Our labrador, german shepherd cross is a rescue dog. We are unsure of his age but have been told he's about 2. He has chewed through 3 dining room chairs and various other items of furniture which are mainly soft furnishings. We have tried all different methods of traning but he just won't stop. He is only left for a few hours a week so is not left excessively. Please can anyone help.

Also, he won't go to the toilet on his own. We have to stand outside with him and he won't go whilst on a walk which makes it difficult if he visits someone without a garden.

Any advice please?
