Hello,
I have been using backpage for a couple years now and with great success. I have posted both paid and none paid posts.

However, recently, my paid post have been mysteriously deleted, but my paid posts are still there... hmmm?

They all seem to be deleted within two hours and the posts are all different and only in one city at a time (Dallas, TX - city my buisness is in) All the ads are family safe and offering paid positions. For instance, I am in search of a web designer, a 3D artist and so forth. I do not over post and only post the same ad once a week. I run a production company and always have new opennings depending on peojects.

My most recent free post was for two Voice Over actors, paid positions.

I also have tried posting with and without images, but usually I post with and have things like my logo and exmples of our work related to the post (like the 3D artist post would have 3D images we have made.)

So this long discription comes down to I follow all the rules and yet now my free posts are being deleted. Any help would be appreciated.

Malameel

I also attached a several images as examples of what I have posted.

Can you please clarify the statement " However, recently, my paid post have been mysteriously deleted, but my paid posts are still there... hmmm?"?

Actually...nevermind that.

Here's the bottom line:

Ads are deleted on a Community Request basis. If enough users (from unique IP's) report an ad, it's removed. The end. The majority rules.

Email support@backpage.com with your problem.

In the title of your email somewhere, put "Attn: pwny"

Simple, if I pay for a post, it stays, but if it is free, it gets deleted... hmmm? Interesting don't you think?

That I do understand, but here is an example of a post that has been deleted and I had to repost:

Hello,
We are in production again and we are in search of two female Voice Over talents to be featured in our newest commercial. The commercial is a full 3D animation for a predominate company in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. The two actresses need to be able to speak Spanish, (not just read Spanish). One voice needs to sound about 20 and the other must have a grandmother voice.

This is a paid opportunity. Please call in and speak with Alicia.

It would appear that way.

I ran a search for your email address in Dallas.

You're over posting so the community is deleting your ads. However the community does not have the ability to delete paid ads, no mystery there.
The site admins haven't gotten around to deleting your paid ads. That or they were just ignoring them and opting to work on more important things.

If you think the deletion of your paid ads will even things out, please let me know.

You can't post the same ad more than once in a 7 day period.

Buying upgrades does not make you exempt from the rules.

I am posting different ads and I can post the same ad up to once a week which I am following. So if that is not it, why the deletions? Of course I do not think more deletions will help. However, my free ads should be left alone as well when I am following the rules.

The admin has more important things to do? Like follow my posts and delete them even though they are brand new posts? Brand new means never posted before, so how can I over post? I am not trying to be pissy, but why would a brand new post for paid voice actors be deleted?

I am following all the rules. The same ad cannot be posted more than one per week, not one company cannot post more than once a week.

I really am trying to figure out what is going on, but I have read the FAQ and I am following them, so unless they changed them recently, I do not have any clue an I hope an Admin can help.

Yes, but when they are deleted (including the first one) for no known reason and I know I have followed the FAQ correctly; I repost.

So before this issue had occurred, I was faithful to the FAQ and was hoping that soon this issue would be resolved. I have been emailing support for two weeks and rarely recieved a reply that menation anything other than please refer to the FAQ, so now this forum is my only hope that somebody is listening.

I posted again the ad for VO talent (the one listed above) and it is already deleted. It has NEVER been online with backpage for more than a few hours so it has never had a succesful post. I also post the ads in Spanish and they are also deleted, but that seems to be an added feature and not consider a second post (I know this because weither or not I post in Spanish with my ad it is still always deleted.) Since I started this thread, my paid ad dissappeared but I will have to look it up when it started. Funny it would happen today though...

So why am I being singled out? Support wont respond, nobody to call, and no help yet here. I know I sound upset, but wouldn't you be if all of a sudden your posts stopped working and you have been using this as a source of contact to your community? I have been a happy supporter of backpage and have bought ads often, but why would this occur to begin with and then nobody seem to be able to offer real help.

I want sombody to look this up and tell me why the first one was deleted. The others, as I have said, have been reposted in hopes of correcting the deletion that should not have occurred.

Please look it up, please investigate it, please help. I am not perfect, and probably everybody had their time of figuring out how to use the system properly. I have been faithful to FAQ for a long time, and this now is something new.

No not complaining, just want a real answer that actually addresses the issue. I do not know why these deletions are happenning and I would be more than happy to follow any guildlines put forth (even hidden) to put this to rest, but if I am following all the rules in FAQ, where else can I go? So far the support email is not helping either, just pointing me to the FAQ whihc I am following.

Help is all I am asking.

It stands to reason that if the community votes to remove something once, they'll probably be even more inclined to report it if you keep reposting it over and over, as you're just violating the Terms of Use more and more each time by doing so. That's like saying "I got pulled over for speeding, which set me behind my schedule. So, after that I had to speed even more to make up for the time I lost and I got pulled over again! This doesn't make any sense! I'm an idiot!"

Also, I just took a look at your BP Central account and you don't have any paid ads that have been removed. Our system doesn't work that way. Paid ads are so well protected that even staff members have to jump through a lot of hoops to actually delete a paid ad. You currently have three paid sponsor ads online (that come out to a whopping combined total of $3.75).

I won't lie to you, I'm having a really hard time following your crap logic here. The more I think about it, the more it seems ridiculous to me that you would take a shot in the dark and claim that you have paid posts missing, (surely) knowing full well that your making that claim to the people that operate the site. The people who built these features. The people who's jobs it is to verify such things. The funny thing is this: since BP Central is still beta we actually haven't even completely finished a "physical" or "hard" delete function for accounts. Meaning that even if an ad has been "deleted" it's still stored on a database somewhere forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever (this is done in such a way because when people aren't lying about their legit ads being removed, we can just bring them back online immediately without hassle - it should be noted: that very rarely ever happens). Since we haven't built the feature to even remove anything out of BP Central yet, even your "deleted" ads will appear in the account until the end of time (to anyone else reading this - that will all be changing very soon).

In a nutshell: if you actually had a paid ad that was accidentally deleted, it would still be listed in your account, as we haven't even built the freggin' technology to hard delete ads from an account yet. In an even smaller nutshell: the claim your ultimately making is not just improbable but it is actually impossible.

So why am I being singled out?

You're not. You're just self-absorbed.

Support wont respond

Untrue.

nobody to call

Also untrue.

and no help yet here

Again...untrue. You're just not hearing what you want to hear.

I know I sound upset, but wouldn't you be if all of a sudden your posts stopped working and you have been using this as a source of contact to your community?

Apparently, you don't even have the vaguest idea of what "community" means, as you've completely written ours off.

Proof in point:

I want sombody to look this up and tell me why the first one was deleted. The others, as I have said, have been reposted in hopes of correcting the deletion that should not have occurred.

That statement right there is your problem. You apparently feel as though you're above our community and above our terms of use. Furthermore, you also seem to feel that your idea of how things should be is more valuable than the communities collective consensus. "...correcting the deletion that should not have occured". Give me a break. Thanks for that correction. Obviously someone was way out of line.

I have been a happy supporter of backpage and have bought ads often

We appreciate that. We really do. However, if you can't learn to follow the rules, then we don't want you here. Unlike most of our peers, we're more interested than quality over quantity.

but why would this occur to begin with and then nobody seem to be able to offer real help.

Apparently, you don't read any of our replies. If you did, you wouldn't be asking the same stupid questions over and over again.

AGAIN...

We depend on dedicated users to report bad posts. We call these users our "community" (Definitions of community on the Web: common ownership; "they shared a community of possessions" ::: A community is a set of people (or agents in a more abstract sense) with some shared element — in particular a group of people who live in the same area is a community. The substance of shared element varies widely, from a situation to interest to lives and values. The term is widely used to evoke sense of collectivism). Your ads were removed by the community. The end.

You're a god damn genius! We should get flyboy to catch that notebook that we wrote the rules in on fire.

This reminds me of something my dad used to tell me when I was a kid. He'd sit me down on his knee and he'd say "rx_bandit...", because that was my screen name back then, "don't look a gift horse in the mouth...", and then after a really long, uncomfortable pause he'd conclude "unless that horses' mouth is made of bacon. Then you bite that mouth." I later became vegetarian, but you catch my drift, right?
