Well, Freckles is not eating. I've raised my frogs from tadpoles and I'm the only person that handles them. At the tadpole stage, they ate fishfood and then went to small frogs pellets, but really didn't like them, so I got some very tiny crickets and that is what they've eaten every since.
I feed the crickets gutload reqularly and then feed my frogs. All three of my frogs, Freckles, Huff and Puff are Canyon Tree Frogs. Huff and Puff are fat and sassy and so was freckles. Around Christmas time, he stopped eating. I hand feed them, so I know when and how many they eat...since Christmas, I have forced one cricket down him, not being mean, but gently opening his mouth and putting it in and he did swallow it. I was hoping that maybe he was just going through some kind of stage and that he'd start eating soon. He hasn't and I've tried one more time with feeding him a cricket and he spits it out and looks at me so sad. He is getting thin, still jumps when he wants to. Tonight, I slipped some fish food between his lips and of course once you get that in, it kinda melts and he couldn't spit it out...he wanted to though.
My frogs live in an terrarium that has a nice water fall, limbs for climbing and the bed is of bark. It even has a warmer for the water that is under the terrarium...they are spoiled, but hey I've raised them and they are special to me. Also, Freckles is like molting. Some layering has come off of him, like the slimey stuff that makes them shine. The other two frogs haven't done this. It just kinda peels off like skin when you have a sun burn.

Have you heard of any frogs like Freckles, or what is happening to him?
If so, what can I do for him? thanks for any help

I'm not sure what's going on with your little sweetie, and I've never handled a Canyon Tree Frog. However, as with any pet, when their apetite isn't good it's usually a sign of some problem. Definately take him to be seen and hopefully all will be fine. How old is he? Could it be age? I don't know the lifespan of that breed of frog. I have an African Dwarf Frog. He is 3 years old, but his lifespan is only about 5 or 6 years. I have had two other African Dwarf Frogs life out their whole 6 years. I hope yours gets healthy soon and lives a long life! I love frogs!!

Thanks Karen for the thoughts; I've been given him small pieces of fish food and he seems a bit better. I'm not sure of their life span, but they are 4 years old and they've had a pampered life.
I did find some info on frogs at a different site, so I'll see what I can do for them.
Again, I appreciate your words. :)

I'm glad he seems to be doing better. Also, another thing you mentioned is his skin was kinda molting? Mine do that every year or two, so maybe it's something natural for yours as well. I'm sure you can find out online. Good luck to you and your honey frog!

Have a friend / bartender; she has frogs. Sprinkles some sort of calcium powder and dietary suplements onto the crickets. When fed only crickets they don't get the normal balanced diet of nature. I'll see her tommorrow night at the local watering hole and ask her about it.
