If I'm not mistaken (and frequently I am) the ASPCA is only in New York. The SPCA is in the rest of the country but I was told they were not associated with each other. If nothing else, the ASPCA should still be able to give you some guidance for your area.

I just learned something new. The ASPCA is so frequently talked about in NYC. I thought they were global, they can provide guidance as you said but it doesn't hurt to know other means to get the job done. I know PETA Is also another animal rights fighter organization. But there head quarters is in Norfolk, Virginia. So your advice is very helpful for people through out the US. Thanks for taking the time to add the info!

I so respect the ASPCA. I love animals and if I was in NY or the ASPCA was in Florida, I'd try to get a job with them. I'd love to save animals. Unfortunately, where I am, the people who save the animals have to take a shift euthanizing them. I couldn't bring myself to do that unless the animal was suffering. Animal Services in my area destroys animals after a week or if the animal was surrendered and the owner only says it's a difficult animal.
From what I've seen on Animal Planet, the ASPCA Police are seperate from the veterinarians completely. I'd love to do that.
