America is a great place for the ex-football player to continue his professional career playing internationally. Rugby Football is just like the old days of park football without pads for real men. We did not wear padding when we were ages 6-16 playing in the park football, why do we wear pads now? Are we women? Women wear padding. :D
I would like to see more hardcore athletes play rugby football, it offers more and a future to the ones who don't make the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB or MLS but are still good atheltes. Check out the site. www.wamnrl.com

...assuming you're refering to NFL football and not futbol:

The old days of football in the park are some of my best memories. I can't say I've seen a lot of rugby but I have seen some. One thing you see in American football and not so much rugby is someone lowering their shoulder, moving their head just a little to the side, and POW! Leaving the reciever motionless on the grass, completely unconcious with a slight twitch.

I guess what I'm saying is that pads seem girlie on the surface, but they offer the added dimension of a good, premeditated stick. I have seen some hard hits in Rugby but it is often by accident. You can look a reciever dead in the eye and without saying a word, he will understand that if he catches this pass - he'll have blood in his urine for a week.

...again, I haven't seen much rugby so my argument could be completely wrong.
