Home Flea Remedies

I've heard things like:
Cutting a lemon into slices to let stew in a bucket of water overnight so that you could strain the water into a spray bottle and giving your pets a one over with it. Feeding them garlic tablets every day or so, and taking a flea comb lubed with petroleum jelly over their fur.

Any home flea remedies you'd like to share? Putting chemicals on my lawn I don't mind, but ferrets are another thing. There's nothing specifically for them, only recommendations that kitten treatment is probably safe.

honestly, I used to use home remedies/holistic remedies but I gave up on them. I thought they worked... until all of my pets got fleas. that was a bad, bad summer.
now we use frontline, and we haven't had a problem since.

I would recommend calling an exotics vet and see what they say. I'm sure kitten flea medication would work well.
