Indoor soccer experts needed

I'm writing a story on Indoor soccer (for our local newpaper) and it would be great to get any kind of input you can give. If anyone here is a soccer expert and can explain to me why the Three Line Violation Rule (in indoor soccer) is so strongly enforced that would also be great!!! thnks and as soon as posible is the best.

I don't play alot of indoor soccer but I imagine the three line rule is alot like icing in hockey and has the same effect as offsides in regular soccer.

Its not cool to have someone sit at the other teams goal and wait for a long pass to score. Not having the rule would mean one defender would have to hang at the back and that would be boring.
