The "pit bull" you're referring to probably isn't a pit bull at all. American Pit Bull Terriers are 30-60 pounds and proportionate. They don't have overly large heads, stubby legs, or overdone muscles (unless conditioned correctly).
You may be referring to an American Bully -- it's a new fad, stemmed off from the APBT. They're bred to look "tougher," though they look like genetic, drooly messes to me, most of the time.

Hello I am a proud Am. Bulldog owner and I can positively say that the dog in the bottom picture is not a Am. Bulldog (or at least a purebred.) Am. Bulldogs (depending on the type "Johnson," or "Standard" are about 24"-27" at the withers and anywhere from 90 to 120 lbs. Pit Bull Terriers are a decendent of American Bulldogs and not the other way around but I love APBT and you seem to have a loving one that breaks all the stereo types Sara

I never said that was an American Bulldog. It's a new fad -- American Bully, supposedly bred from the American Pit Bull Terrier. Here's the link again; http://www.abkcdogs.org/
