Hey guys...

I saw several posts on this board from people looking for kickball or dodgeball leagues...so I just wanted to send out the call to the folks from the Denver metro area!

I run an organization in the Denver metro area called Western Alternative Sports Association. We host kickball, dodgeball, broomball, and other alternative sports leagues throughout the year, and throughout the metro area! We'd love to have you join us! We're fun, laid back, only mildly competitive, and affordable. And calling us "athletes" would be a stretch! We have players of all ages and all abilities, so just come out and have a good time! Best of all, all of our leagues are $35 or less per player for an 8 week season, and that includes t-shirts, beer and food specials at our sponsor bars, post season tourneys, social events throughout the year, and a big party at the end of each season!

Check out our website, www.wasasports.com for info about our leagues and about our upcoming seasons. Spring kickball and spring dodgeball leagues start in April, in Aurora, Englewood and Westminster! Feel free leave a post here if you have any questions or comments! "Go Out and Play!"

I played kickball with WASA a year and 1/2 ago and it was poorly run and was really not fun. I switched to Play Coed kickball in downtown Denver and had a ton of fun. Beer, DORK t-shirts, photos, a sweet ass Web site, drink discounts, professional refs, and prizes. It was the real deal! PLAYCOED (http://www.playcoed.com) Rocks the house! I saw something about these guys being on MTV soon too!

I'm wondering if maybe you're thinking of WAKA, or some other group, and not WASA? We have all the same things you mentioned... shirts, website, pictures, great bar sponsors, giveaways all season long, etc... and at a very affordable price. I have heard some of your complaints in reference to other leagues before...but never about our group.

Your feedback is appreciated, but we've had very few people have ANYTHING negative to say about our group in the past... and ESPECIALLY not about our level of organization, so I want to be very sure that your comments are directed at the appropriate party here...

To those of you who read this, please have an open mind and don't be easily swayed by negative comments. I myself have been a member of WASA for over two years now. WASA is a league for the majority of people. Beleive me when I say the majority. I have seen all different types of shapes and ages at WASA events. From the fit athletic type to your average couch potato. WASA is in a nut shell, fun. I would consider it a second family. The people are nice, the sports are fun, and it gets me out of the house. After most games their is a local bar that we all go to and enjoy ourselves and bond. I was in another Dodgeball league at one time and it seemed like every week we were getting into fights or trying to avoid one. A FIGHT OVER DODGEBALL.......Not with WASA, the league is rather inexpensive and dare I say it again tons of fun. I will say this WASA is not for everyone. Example If you want to knock someones head off with a dodgeball, or argue with everyone about a bad call in a Kickball game, then I advise you to find something different. However if you like having fun, meeting new people and AWESOME drink specials, then WASA is for you.

I played with WASA in Englewood, and WAKA in Denver, and it was nothing compared to DORK Kickball in Denver with Play Coed. Honestly, it was like comparing a cheap canned coffee to Starbucks, there really was no comparison.

First off the drink specials have been superior with Play Coed, the shirts and logos are awesome (I actually want to wear them), the prizes are excellent, and I had a better experience as a whole. Plus I met some good looking girls and signing up was a piece of cake, I just got on the Web site, put in my profile and started a team. Then I invited everyone to my team and within a day I was signed up, paid, and I got text messages and email annoucements with my game times. The Web site is a lot of fun too, I get to have my friends list, birthday reminders, specials and coupons, and I can get someone to write me back when I have a question right away.

I highly recommend Play Coed (http://www.playcoed.com) (I play kickball, dodgeball, and bowling), that is why I am taking the time to write this.

You know, I simply posted this thread to get some information out about our league and invite people to join in and have fun... Not to start this lame cross league bashing with you playcoed guys.... why do you insist on taking it there? If you're having fun in your league, that's great... I'm happy for you. I'm not asking you to cross over and play with us, so why do you have to take cheap shots? We're just a little alternative sports league in the Denver metro area, trying to get as many people involved as we can, and give them the best value for their money as we're capable of. And, not to criticize the previous poster, but if you had in fact been involved with our league, as you claim, you would know that we offer all the same things as your league of choice.

Website with great pics, deals and online registration? - check.

Fun leagues focused on socializing and having a good time? - check

Great bar and brewery sponsors offering great deals and prizes? - check

Responsive organizers? - check

Great looking ladies? - Well, anyone who comes out to play can be the judge. I know that I found one.

And there are also facts that you cannot argue against, and that's the fact that we're more affordable, more inclusive, less competitive, and more about fun than winning. You are right that we're not for everyone, but we are for anyone. So, anyone interested in coming out and seeing what we're all about, we'd love to have you!

Check us out at www.wasasports.com (http://)!

You guys are so lame to be sitting here fighting over who has better kickball. Why don't you try a real sport like soccer?

Seriously, kickball is for wimps!

right on jennaj... the fighting is lame...over kickball and dodgeball...geez.

Don't pin it on the WASA guy though... looks like he/she's just trying to protect their league...Those P.C. guys need a life, instead of scouring the message boards for kickball and dodgeball posts to sabotage.

I came across this post doing a search on google for kickball leagues so I thought I would do some research. this looks like a good forum for feedback and information.

personally can't say I have played in a Denver dodgeball or kickball league because I just moved here and am looking to get on a team, but I can tell you that I have coworkers that have been talking about play Coed in Denver and friends back in Austin Texas who play in a flag football league with them and they absolutely love it and rave on about it. I haven't heard much about WASA but just from visiting these two web sites, hands down Play Coed looks like a lot more fun and has a lot more going on. Thumbs up to them on the web search and design / functionality. ;)

Hey all,

I have been a soccer fan (Football in the UK!) since I could walk. Football is the one passion I have always enjoyed.

Then I watched Dodgeball, I know I know it's only a film but I would love to get a chance to play it over here in th UK.

Just wondering now, has Dodgeball been around for years and only got popular/taken off because of the film? Or am I just being a bit thick?

Don't be fooled by a fancy website...in this case, Playcoed's fancy website just hides a mess of a league.

I made the mistake of playing in a Playcoed dodgeball league about a year and a half ago, and will NEVER go back. I went in thinking that I would be playing a silly kids game and meet some fun people in the process. BOY was I wrong! I don't know how their other sports are, but the dodgeball league was a disaster. Arguments and fights almost every night... ok, EVERY night. "Adults" who were WAY, WAY over competitive, and teams that had no interest in getting to know each other during or after the games (nothing but a whole lot of arrogant attitude). It was a COMPLETE waste of time, and a waste of a LOT of money (these guys charge almost twice as much as what WASA charges... no wonder they can afford a fancy website).

Then, about a year ago, I checked out a WASA kickball league. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! These guys were extremely well organized, and FUN! They worked very hard on keeping the games light hearted and wacky, and I think that's the way these games should be. You NEVER see fights or arguments during a WASA game. Their prices were very reasonable, and they did a great job of arranging post game socials at their sponsor bar where there would be food and drink deals, along with pretty decent giveaways, each night after our games! I have met a TON of people through this league, and from all different teams! Everyone honestly has a good time playing together and hanging out afterwards, and I love it! I'm currently playing in their winter dodgeball league, and it's the same way! I've gotten many of my friends to join the league as well, and we're looking forward to the spring kickball season. They also do a bunch of great outings during the year... for example, my friends and I got to play dodgeball in the Pepsi Center with WASA earlier this year... awesome!

For those of you looking for the inside scoop from someone who's been on both sides of this fence, take it from me that this is NO CONTEST. WASA is the better league BY FAR! They're way more fun, way more social, and really understand what these recess sports are supposed to be all about. And maybe I'm partial, but I kinda like their simple little website... www.wasasports.com (http://).

Wow I logged on to support WASA and saw the Play COED guys doing nothing but bashing. Sorry WASA I now know that if I want to be cool and bash other leagues for being less competiteve then I must join COED. So I am going, I want to be where the action is, where I can feel like I am in junior high again and make fun of the less popular kids. I remember this one time that I was in Junior high and I made this kid drink my urine. Thank you COED for reminding me what I am in life. A bully. God I can not wait, I had so much fun picking on people. I hope that COED is really how they come across, because if they are than I am all about it. By the way COED how much is the overrated league I'll be playing in, remember it is all about the website, not having fun and meeting new people. WOW JUNIOR HIGH HERE I COME.............

i love dodgeball.... started playing with some friends in Aurora at Gibby's when the movie came out... outdoor dodgeball was okay, but then we moved up to d-town and started kicking ass in the Denver Athletic Club league. Check out our team profile at this Web page: http://denver.playcoed.com/event_team.php?id=503 ... we are sitting in 2nd place out of 16 teams. there's even a team that goes around and takes some video of the games at www.teamcoorslight.com

I'll take dodgeball over soccer anyday, since it's not quite as competitive and the social aspect of the sport is much more laid back than the soccer folk.
(not that there's anything wrong with that) in dodgeball it doesn't matter if we kill a team one night 6-1, they still want to hang out and drink after the games and it's always a good time during the games.

i don't think it's right for anyone to diss another company. i've played with a few different leagues and although some were better than others, the fact that you are playing is the positive and right thing.... on another note i recently played on a basketball team at Auraria campus that I believe was managed by Play Coed (they are on our shirts and we signed up on their web site) and I never once saw an argument or fight. The league was managed well, the referees kept things fun, there was a social & entertainment aspect to things, and the prizes were good. I think I paid $35 because I am a student, and a couple of my teammates that are graduates paid $60. check out our awesome team
