It is very simple, what you need to do is get a forum scripts and then install it into your host space. phpbb and vBulletion are two of the very famous forum scripts. I too have a forum - political in nature.( http://slantedfacts.forumup.org/ ) that is free to set up through Forum Up - it has a lot of good features and if you want it on your own site - it can be done as well or they will help get you your own site to install it on . . .
