I am looking to see if anyone has any recommendations for a dog trainer. I am looking for a one on one trainer who is willing to come to our home and also go to areas that are crowded ie parks, downtown, etc.. to train dog. If anyone has any good experiences or recommendations please let me know. greatly appreciated!

I am not sure where you live but if you live near Katy, TX I can recommend a training facility called Happy Hounds. I am not sure if they will come to your house or not but they are good trainers and are decently priced. You can find all the information to contact them at www.happyhounds.us. I would not go to Man's Best Friend. Very pricey and I just didn't care for them. Please also checkout my pet supply website at www.pet-essentials.com. We sell pet car seats, beds, cheaper flea/tick/heartworm meds, and electronic training devices.
Hope this helps you,
Ben

Buggy,
I have a few recommendations to share re. a great dog training referral, as well as some tips that you will want to consider to ensure success.
First, let me share the URL for 'Furrst Place K-9' -- http://www.professionaldogobediencetraining.com.
By visiting Furrst Place K-9 online you will have a good sense of what to anticipate in quality. I have enjoyed great success in my own dog training efforts since training with Laura and Don, and observing the results first hand at local shows. Be sure to take the grand tour of every page when visiting Furrst Place online!
IMHO, it would be best to train *first* -- *then* tackle crowded areas, initially in short time duration. You will want to know that your dog can comfortably handle the challenges that he/she will face, so developing a working relationship with your canine companion is of utmost importance for satisfactory results, as are proper loose lead heeling, basic commands, and gradual exposure to distractions in order to meet with guaranteed success, increased confidence for your dog, and relaxing times for you together. Training with a highly skilled and experienced trainer who will work one-on-one with you will provide results in which you will be able to enjoy pride and satisfaction, as well as worry-free quality time with your canine companion. So please do look into Furrst Place, and don't forget to check out the testimonials section!
