Hope this doesn't count as an advertisement, just wanted to let any dog lovers and frisbee players know we are having a Frisbee Competition in Los Angeles. Check it out. If this notification is misplaced, I apologize.
Hey all you dog lovers!
We're having a Disc (Frisbee) Dog competition at Cheviot Hills Recreation Center this coming weekend! Bring the kids and the dogs!
All are welcome to watch and compete! There are multiple divisions of competition from the extreme newbie to the very advanced. The divisions are Junior (for the kids), Novice (If you've never done it beforeor are still just learning the ropes), Intermediate (When you're ready to show what ya got but not ready for a freestyle routine [if you have ever won in the Novice, then you're an intermediate]), and Open/Pro. If your dog will catch a frisbee and come back to you, you qualify to get out on the field and give it a go!
There will be two types of events:
1) Distance Accuracy Event (Junior, Novice, and Intermediate)
All you need to do here is throw the frisbee on a field and have your dog get out there and catch it. You have 60 seconds to compete as many cataches as you can. You get more points the further you throw the disc and your dog catches it. But short throws work too as you'll be able to make more throws.
2) Frisbee Freestyle (Only the pro division does Freestyle)
Competitors go out and perform a choreographed routine to music. Competitors are judged on Choreography, Dog Athleticism, and a WOW factor (Dogs doing backflips, jumping off their handlers, and other exciting moves)
So come on out and enjoy the show. Be a part of the show!
This event is a UFO sanctioned local tournament and will be held at Cheviot Hills Recreation Center, 2551 Motor Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90064 (Corner of Motor Ave. and Pico Blvd). Hosted by Disc Dogs in Southern California. Registration/check-in starts at 9:30am and the competition starts at 10:00am. The divisions will include Novice, Intermediate & Open.
The recreation center is located right next to the Rancho Park Golf Course at the corner of Pico and Motor.
