Here is what Jesus said was necessary in order to follow him:
And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
(Luke 9:23 ESV)

Here are the subjects for next week:

Saying "yes" to God might seem automatic in theory. But what about those times when you don't understand God, and things look a little treacherous? Well, it's those tough challenges and hard choices that we want to prepare you for as we learn from the life of Elijah. See what happens when an honest and real man puts his faith and hope in a big and powerful God.

"Go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor. Then you will have treasure in heaven. And come, follow me."

So have you done that theophilus?

...or do you do what all other so called Christians do and ignore the teachings of your man-god that are likely to affect your wallet and/or comfortable life style?

Plad, there are no other groups in the world that give more than Christians to help their fellow man. Your interpretation of scripture is a teaching tool meaning material things in this world do not compare to what heaven holds.]

Would you think that Bill Gates should liquidate his assets and spread his wealth to everyone else and live on the street homeless or should he continue his business acumen and set up charities, donate to thiird world countries as he has done for years? Which would you think benefits everyone in the long run... a one time shot or money support lasting years?

Hey, I'm only repeating what the man-god is alleged to have said and that was...'If you want to be 'perfect', sell what you have and give the money to the poor' - followed by -..."Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal."

He didn't say to the rich man -'it's OK to accumulate masses of money but use some of it to help the poor'. He said GIVE IT ALL AWAY. He also unambiguously stated that it would be easier for a camel to shit through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven. See bro, I have 'interpreted' nothing. It is the Christians that do the 'interpreting', usually so that things mean what they want them to mean. All I've done is to repeat what it says, word for word! If you think it means something OTHER than what it says then that is something you will have to take up with your Jesus.

As for Bill Gates, what he is doing (or rather, what his father has persuaded him to do) is admirable but according to the Christian man-god, if Bill wants to be a follower, which I'm sure he doesn't, he has to give away all his wealth just like the man-god told the rich man in the Bible to do.
