Delusional people cannot stray from their programming. Yesterday's news conference at the NRA: "Let's have armed guards in all the schools." OK, Bam-Bam, so how about a hefty tax on the crux of the super-firearms to pay for them. Another bunch of far-right loonies who can't put their money where their mouth is.

Perhaps all of the makers of violent movies and video games should chip in as well. Have you seen some of these games? I mean really......Pick up a hooker on one block, shoot a cop on the next, stab a bystander, and then steal a car or other form of transportion. That's Grand Theft Auto.......
To the casual observer that may seem like a naughty little game where only cars are stolen. Check it out, it's ridiculous. Did you know their was a game called "Kindergarten Killers"? I think we need to keep an open mind here.

Regardless the violence in some of these games and such. It's a lot different watching skull, brains, blood and body parts being strewn all, over real-time. Too see the results of the trigger pulls should be enough to shock someone to see what they have just committed. Soldiers trained for combat have a hard time coping with the same in combat.

As I think about it, it seems the kid wanted to commit suicide but had to have a mechanism to not back down from it so he goes to the school kills a bunch of people and now he "has to" commit suicide because there is no going back. It's begining to look like the suicidal people want to die but have to take some along so the suicide can be complete. The nutcase in NY who shot the firemen. He wanted to die so he kills a couple of people and now there is no going back. The suicide is complete.

Perhaps the delusion is in those who drink the mainstream media koolaid. While I am not a huge fan of all the NRA says their recent suggestion that if people wish to stop these events by placing armed guards in the schools certainly makes more sense than the idiots wanting to "ban scary looking firearms". But neither addresses the core issue.

The reality is the media tells you the NRA is stupid and you lap it up. They tell you the NRA is evil and they are responsible for the mass shootings. Try thinking objectively and you might see that the real problem with school shootings started in the 70s. Yet the NRA was around a long time before that. So what happened in the 70s? We started drugging our troubled children.

Yep, drugging the children so they would be more tractable in class is certainly something that might be considered a factor.
When a certain teacher of my own child suggested that in 1981 (in Montessori no less) I withdrew my child from that environment. It turned out that in our case that teachers and administrators that recommended children to a certain psychologist / psychiatrist couple were invited to exclusive seasonal parties held at the couple's home. Thus, the lowly paid teachers were then considered and partied with the "in crowd." My own investigation uncovered an ever growing number of private and public school teachers that were ensnared in the revolving door of teacher - psychologist / psychiatrist recruitment of patients from the student ranks to fill an ever growing profitable practice for the couple. But alas, even after discussing this situation with certain other parents and teachers nothing was done and the practice continued even though at the time studies were inconclusive concerning the long term use of drugs like Ritalin (and others) on students diagnosed with ADHD, ADD, CADHD, CADD, and the other acronyms that were in vogue at the time. So, even to the casual observer to make this connection between childhood drug use and the eventual violence eruptions later in life is not surprising to me at all. Every action has a reaction.

The legal drug culture that evolved in the early 60's is still going on and seems to have long lasting ramifications. I'm not making a blanket accusation because I do know of children that benefited from certain drugs to control their behavior. But every action also may have an unplanned reaction too. Yesterday's childhood zombie might be tomorrow's nut-case.

It was a good marketing idea but at what cost later?

I wonder if Max was one of those kids?

Placing "armed guards" is neither well thought out, nor economically feasible. You're just adding another gun into the scenario. Will another gun stop a situation like Sandy Hook? I doubt it, for the reasons stated before: you can't have a high level of alert consistently. A less than perfect armed guard is another potential casualty and a source of further firepower. Assault weapons have been a problem for quite a while now. No one "needs" a weapon like this.

I'm not for a "ban" on weapons, most aren't. The vast majority are for limiting the types of weapons designed for mass killing, including high capacity magazines.
