We all want these heinous crimes against our children to cease. These actions should be considered as Terrorism! Consider this; these crimes against humanity are performed with legitimately purchased (following all current laws and regulations), stolen or even borrowed firearms. Many other mass murders and genocides have been performed throughout the world, using machetes, gas and IED’s. The methods differ, but, the result remains the same. Consider the defensive measures taken after 9-11 and how secure we’ve made our airports. Our contention is that, we can make our schools as secure or even more so, with a similar strategy. That is, “Station the necessary number of National Guard troops at each school, with all equipment necessary to stop assailants from gaining entry”. Establish a “National Zero Tolerance Policy” (any unauthorized person attempting to force entry will be stopped by all means).
For further consideration; this political argument of banning weapons and ammunition and high capacity magazines is outrageous and self serving to the politicians. “IF” (30) round magazines are banned, then the murderers will bring 4 or 5 (10) round magazines to perform their carnage. And, in the case at Columbine, they brought large bottles of propane, in addition to their firearms. It is well known, that the previous assault weapons ban, accomplished absolutely nothing! “THE LAW BREAKERS WILL CONTINUE TO BREAK ALL LAWS”! In essence, the perpetrators will only change their methods. Therefore, we must stop the perpetrators! The fact remains, our government has been reactive to the crimes against our children, and they need to be PROACTIVE, starting NOW.
As Patriotic Americans, we demand immediate and effective actions to protect our children in their schools.
We Americans have the God given and Constitutional rights to self protection, not to be limited by any government entity.

If you agree with this, please forward it to your Congressman / Congresswoman and to the President of these United States of America.

Great post!!! There are many here that agree. Of course Hollywood and those that create violent and vial video games will never step forward and admit that they have a major part in the de-sensitization of much of our culture to violence. Let it also be noted that these alleged shooters have pretty much all been below 25 years of age. As most of us know, the part of the brain that has to do with risk assessment has not fully developed until one reaches the age of 25.

I remember back in the Mario Brothers, Zelda days, when a kid would jump on people's heads and fight with swords. It horrible what these violent games do to our young ones.

Not to mention all the violence that can be found in countries that don't have video games, or tv.

Violence doesn't come from games, it comes from human nature.

I agree to a point. Violent over the top video games and movies can sometimes be "the straw that broke the camel's back" for those that have trouble differentiating between right/wrong, good/evil, and reality.

It's hard to ever figure out the exact cause of these horrible events. But it does seem that a lot of this began around the time be started using drugs to treat our troubled youth.

Personally, I feel that there are deeper roots than drugs and advocation-titillation of violence: apathy towards and absence of human relationships.

As people move away from making connections with their neighbors and continually restrict personal involvement with other people, we no longer take care of each other.

I thought Frasier brought home--albeit humorously--the trend in helping people, even though the message was framed in a psychiatric manner.

"You know how boring it is to hear people patter endlessly about their pathetic lives."--Frasier, summing up his dedication (lack of, obviously) for his profession.

We all know weird people living in our neighborhoods who are a little strange. Most, we can live with. The few we are uncomfortable with, we do nothing. Better to lock our doors and (Plad doesn't understand this) keep our guns handy. But at the same time, we keep mum. We don't turn to people in the know who are trained to deal with these non-social people.

But then we have the Catch-22. We turn to these professionals, who MIGHT meet once or twice with these oddball people, who MIGHT make a personal record of the individual's behavior, but NOT do any further until after we have another incident.

"Oh, yeah. I had a feeling that person was going to do something. I kept a record. But, you know, [and here comes the big excuse] my insurance is too high as it is, and I sure as heck would not want to be sued for a wrong diagnosis or sticking my head where it doesn't belong.

This is the person who received a sheepskin for setting out his shill to soak society blind. A la Frasier and his brother Niles who looked at patients as a means of satisfying their own material needs at the expense of the mental and emotional needs of their patients. [while I really enjoy the series, I now have to label it as black humor, for it depicts a sad commentary on this century that began circa 1970.]
