I guess that would include Romney and the capital gains income people. They produce nothing and live off those who produce, including the working class.

Great post Sappy!!! I'm a big Sowell fan.......he should have been our first black President IMHO.

Max, Max, you and I both know that Capital gains can be realized through the sale of real estate, stocks, bonds, etc..... It's not just about the robber barons.

Yep, and that is income. Why should someone well-to-do get off paying at a lower rate than someone working? I'm talking about those that make their living and shield their income through capital gains, not some widow or retiree selling off their nest egg.

Sowell sells the old tired story of trickle down. It's a proven fallacy. He doesn't have the balance or temperment we need in a president.

Colin Powell should have been our first black president well before this partisan.

I just read Sowell's Sept 4 article.. I want the 5 minutes of my life I wasted reading that back. It was pure crap... a bunch of assumptions and mischaracterizations... the very thing he is railing against in his article.

Need I remind you that Obama and the Dems had two years of a super majority to get the tax code re-written. I don't play into the wealth envy thing. If they earned and continue to earn it, good for them, as long as they're following the rules.

Sowell really doesn''t have the "Presidential Charisma" thing going on, but he is a great economist, and usually a pretty good writer.

Getting the tax code rewitten wasn't a prioority with all that was on the table. if you will recall there was a stalemate that was finally resolved on the Bush tax cuts.

This has NOTHING to do with wealth envy. I mean seriously, where does that come from??? I could hit the top 2% if everything goes well in the next two years. I want MY taxes to be higher. So this has ZERO to do with wealth envy.
All some of us are saying is to go back to the rates as they were under Clinton. It is obvious why: everybody was doing better then; the budget was in surplus.

A report came out recently, just heard it on the radio today, about the growing income gap. This shows that the only "class warfare" that is real is the one that was declared against the middle class.
